정의에 따라선 실제는 옳고 그름을 따질 수 없지만, 선악을 구분케 한다. 우리가 만나는 글 등에서는 선악을 구분하기 쉽게 표현하고 있다. 물론 실제에서도 선악은 구분된다. 하지만, 선악을 구분할 수 없는 경우가 상당수인 것은 사실이다. 더욱이 일탈보다 구조적인 문제를 지적하는 경우도 수없이 많다.
어쨌든 수학에서도 정의는 어렵다.
합과 곱이 같은 정수를 구하라 하면, 2와 2, 그리고 세 수중에선 1, 2,3이라고 답할 수 있다.
그러면 더 없을까? 합과 곱이 같은 정수는 더 있다. 2,5,1,1,1도 되고, 2,2,3,1,1,1,1도 될 수 있다. 찾다보면 더 많을 수도 있을 듯싶다.
그래서 한 정수를 두번 이상 사용하지 않고 합과 곱이 같은 수라고 정의해야 옳겠지만, 사실 어렵다. 아니면 두 수중, 또는 세수 중이라고 하든지
결국 그러다간 말장난같진 않을까? 쉽지 않다.
